Athletics
The drama and excitement of athletic pursuits spark the human psyche and have done so since ancient times. Athletic activities provide opportunities for building skills and abilities, meeting new friends, and achieving a sense of personal satisfaction. A well designed training program is an important component of any athletic activity because the right program helps prevent injuires and maximizes opportunities for sustained participation.
We work with athletes at all levels, from teenage soccer players to professional athletes, to design programs that support their athletic interests and endeavors. Strength and conditioning are critical components of any training program because they help prevent injury. We show you how to build and maintain strength and conditioning in a safe and effective manner.
The ACL Fitness program is one example of our approach to injury prevention. ACL injuries create serious problems for both male and female athletes. In recent years, ACL injuries have been described as reaching epedemic levels for female athletes. Strength and agility training has been shown to be effective at decreasing the incidence of this devastating injury. We introduce kettlebell training as a strength training modality for female athletes. We have teemed with soccer superstar Brandi Chastain to bring you this product in the Fall!
Another exciting technique we teach is the ancient art of Indian clubs. These clubs build incredible strength and coordination in the rotator cuff musculature and the shoulder. Learning this technique is key for athletes who want to build flexibility and power in the shoulder.
We also offer a set of integrative therapies and performance tools that help athletes build flexibility, coordination, and focus. These therapies and tools include yoga, qi gong, visual therapy, visualization, and meditation.
